The Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground (HTC) is an office under the Office of the Dean of Students at Boston University. The HTC was founded to perserve the legacy and work of Dr. Howard Thurman, Dean of Marsh Chapel from 1953 to 1965. Thurman believed that creative, shared meaningful experiences sustained over a long period of time can break barriers between people that divide us. The HTC organizes innovative programs to facilitate those experiences and provides a comfortable space for BU community members to come relax, have invigorating conversations, and meet new people.
